Meet the Trainers

Rebecca Gahan

Owner & Founder of Kick@55 Fitness

Rebecca received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 1997 and spent ten years in IT Sales for Xerox Corporation and Genesys Conferencing. After gaining between 50-65 pounds through each of her three pregnancies, Rebecca designed and created her unique exercise and nutritional program, which transformed her body post-partum. Rebecca then decided to pursue her real passion, helping women regain their pre-baby bodies, and received her certification as a personal trainer through NASM, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, in 2009. NASM certifications are the most sought-after in the personal training industry, as its systems and methodologies represent the “gold standard” in fitness. The organization’s certifications require the most comprehensive knowledge of human movement science, functional anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology. Additionally, Rebecca is certified in Pre/Post Natal, Weight Loss Management, and CPR/AED. Rebecca resides in Chicago with her husband and three children, ages 3, 6 and 10. She enjoys chasing after her three very active children, running, traveling, dining out, reading, binge-watching Netflix, girls’ nights out, and eating dessert.

Tracy Norman

Certified Group Fitness Instructor

An active and healthy lifestyle has been essential to Tracy’s personal life and professional career. From swimming competitively as a child to finishing multiple marathons and triathlons as an adult, she has always made exercise a top priority. With a Masters in Nursing, she has 15 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner. When she is not in the gym or nursing at Lurie Children’s, she is busy taking care of her four daughters, ages 5 to 11 years old. Tracy has the following certifications: A.C.E. certified group fitness training, Mad Dog Spinning, and CPR/AED. She enjoys running by the lake, interval training, spinning and motivating others through group fitness to achieve their personal goals.

Brittany Kirby

I’ve always been one to work out; that’s never been an issue for me. My challenge has always been diet, I hear that word, and I immediately want French fries! In preparation for my July wedding, I decided to meet with Kelly Rojek to create a macronutrient flexible dieting program to follow.  This has been a game changer for me. The process allows me to eat what I want but understands what my body needs throughout the day. I started seeing results in the first week, and I am shocked how easy this has been and how great I feel. I’ve always struggled to lose a few pounds and pretty much always hovered at the same weight.  But now I seem to be quickly leaning out and shedding pounds without a problem. I am thrilled to say that I’ve lost 8 pounds in about four weeks. The most important thing about this diet is that it is sustainable. I can eat out, drink, have dessert… all in moderation.

Lesley-Ann Brown-Henderson

Certified Group Fitness Instructor

From gymnastics, swimming, figure skating, and soccer, Lesley-Ann Brown-Henderson grew up enjoying being active. After moving to the United States from Montreal at 13, her active lifestyle took a back burner for many years. It wasn’t until she attended the University of Miami where her first job was at the Wellness Center that her love for physical activity was rekindled. During graduate school at Texas A& M University, she discovered step aerobics and bootcamp style classes and fell in love. She has been an avid bootcamper for almost ten years and loved the variety and intensity of these classes. Upon finishing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and securing a job at Northwestern University, she moved to Chicago and found Kick@55. Her first class with Rebecca was March 8, 2014, and the rest is history. Lesley-Ann loves traveling, shopping, cooking and hanging out with her husband and dog. Her goal is always to make fitness fun while never sacrificing form. She is motivated by the strength, commitment, and kindness of everyone she’s met at Kick@55 and she is honored to be able to support the achievement of active and fit lifestyles.

Alex Dobrez

Certified Group Fitness Instructor

In the summer of 2015, I was at a low point physically, mentally and emotionally. Exercise had always been a big part of my life, but between the demands of work and life, I put that all on the back burner. I knew I had to get my life back on track. By chance, I stumbled upon a Groupon deal for Kick@55 Fitness and thought I’d give it a try. I barely managed to get through my first class, but after an encouraging follow-up email from Tracy, and a 1:1 conversation with Rebecca, I knew I had to return. I had never come across a gym that gave that personal touch and made it a point to learn who I was. I continued to struggle through class after class, but after a few weeks, I found myself becoming stronger and seeing my body do things I never thought I’d be able to do. Fast forward two years later and I could not be happier with where I am. I can honestly say that Kick has been the best thing that has happened to me (besides meeting my husband!). Not only have I seen my body transform, but my self-esteem and overall confidence are the highest it’s ever been. I fully believe that the Kick model and instructors give men and women the tools needed to succeed in all aspects of life. I have made friends and cultivated relationships, and love being part of such a tight-knit community who looks out and genuinely cares about each other.  I am SO excited to be part of the Kick Team, share my experiences, and help coach the dedicated boot campers who attend the class day in and day out.

Susan Dechant

Certified Group Fitness Instructor

Is officially the first client of Kick@55 Fitness, having joined in 2010, and the first Biggest Loser winner.  She secured this title in January 2013 after losing 30lbs and transforming herself into the lean, mean obstacle course machine we know and love.  She began her teaching journey as our “sub” and then became an official instructor in 2016.  Susan has participated in multiple obstacle course races and placed in the top three for The Warrior Dash and the Muddy Buddy.

Melissa Kats

Certified Group Fitness Instructor

In high school, I led an active lifestyle through consecutively participating in a year-round dance team.  After high school I found myself seeking out other activities to maintain a healthy lifestyle; eventually running and regular visits to the gym became my norm. Upon graduating from Illinois State University with a degree in Marketing Communications, I secured a position with Leo Burnett. As I continued to grow in my career, I began to rely heavily on running and group fitness classes as an outlet to relieve stress and stay fit. In my attempt to try new things I discovered Kick@55 Fitness.  Rebecca and Tracy quickly had me hooked on their HIIT bootcamp classes.  Becoming a group fitness instructor has long been a dream of mine.  2016 will be my best year yet due to the following:  In April my first nephew was born, this week I will become an official Kick@55 instructor, and in November I’ll be marrying my high school sweetheart!

Jodie Kehoe

Certified Group Fitness Instructor

Join us in welcoming Jodie Kehoe to our instructor lineup.   Jodie will teach her first community class on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:30 pm. Registration is complimentary on the condition that you fill out a survey after class.  Jodie had always embraced an active lifestyle but realized her real passion for fitness when she discovered Kick@55.  Growing up, she was a competitive swimmer and has been a regular gym-goer since college.  A few years ago, she fell in love with running and had since finished multiple half-marathons and one marathon.  She was searching for something challenging to break up her fitness rut, and that’s when a friend and fellow instructor, Brittany, introduced Jodie to Kick@55.  After that first sweat-filled, muscle-burning, “I kinda want to cry, but won’t” class, Jodie was hooked.  That was nearly two years ago, and she’s been a loyal bootcamper ever since.  The motivation, kindness, and community at Kick@55 are incredible, and Jodie is honored to be part of such a good team!  As your instructor, she promises to be tough, but empowering, and will push you to stop underestimating yourself.  You got this!

Jessica Althouse

Asst.Office Manager/Certified Group Fitness Instructor

Many of you have seen Jessica Althouse front and center as you enter Kick!  Jessica has quickly become the Kick@55 go-to for everything front-office related.  We have officially hired Jessica as our Assistant Office Manager.  In her new role, Jessica will be responsible for the following critical duties:  accounting, front office, facility, compliance, personnel, procurement, and member sales.  After spending the last four years as an elementary school teacher at The Goddard School, Jessica decided to make the jump into the fitness industry.  She looks forward to immersing herself in the Kick@55 culture as she also plans her Summer 2018 wedding!
